- Madison Square Garden operates no parking facility of its own. The arena names SpotHero as its official parking app, and every garage around Penn Station is a third-party operator setting its own event rate.
- Book ahead rather than driving in to compare: the garages closest to the arena are the ones that fill first on event nights.
Not Allowed In
- Raised-roof vans do not fit some indoor garages, which the arena attributes to low clearance.
- Most outdoor lots accept raised-roof vans, so an oversized vehicle should aim for surface parking rather than a garage.
Accessible Parking
Madison Square Garden runs no accessible lot of its own, so accessible parking here means on-street parking under New York City's permit rules. The rule that catches visiting fans is that the city does not recognize out-of-state placards on the street.
- Holders of a New York City Special Parking Permit may park on the streets and avenues around the venue.
- New York City does not honor blue disability hangtags or plates issued by New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut or any other state for on-street parking.
- Parking questions are handled by the New York City Department of Transportation on 718.433.3100, not by the arena.
Getting There
Madison Square Garden is directly above Penn Station, which makes it the most transit-connected venue in this data by a wide margin: eight subway lines stop beneath it or a block away, PATH arrives from New Jersey, and both LIRR and NJ Transit terminate in the building. Driving is not covered at all.

- Public Transit
- The Garden sits directly above Penn Station. Take the 1, 2, 3, A, C or E to 34th Street/Penn Station, or the B, D, F, M, N, Q or R to 34th Street/Herald Square and walk one block west. PATH trains from New Jersey stop at 33rd Street and Avenue of the Americas. From Grand Central, take the Shuttle or the 7 to Times Square then transfer downtown to a 1, 2 or 3. MTA buses M4, M10, M16, M34 and Q32 stop at 7th Avenue and Penn Station. LIRR and NJ Transit both run into Penn Station beneath the arena.
- Rideshare
- Madison Square Garden has no officially designated rideshare zone, so riders are dropped off and picked up nearby along 7th Avenue or 8th Avenue between 31st and 34th Streets. The arena's accessibility page places Access-A-Ride and rideshare pick-up and drop-off on 7th Avenue just north of 31st Street.
- Walking
- From 34th Street/Herald Square it is one block west to the Garden; from Penn Station you are already underneath it.

MTA subway and local bus: "The fare is $3 for most riders", weekly cap $35. Commuter rail inside the city is the CityTicket, and MTA states it plainly: "For travel on one railroad within New York City without changing directions, a one-way CityTicket costs $5.25 for off-peak trains and $7.25 for peak trains." Games are evenings and weekends, so off-peak $5.25 is the game-day fare. The stored entry bundled two or three railroads into one line, which cannot carry one fare: NJ Transit publishes no static table and quotes per trip, and Amtrak prices dynamically. Narrowed to the LIRR leg, which is a CityTicket trip into Penn Station and the only one of them with a published single fare. Amtrak is left carrying its stored figure and flagged provisional: it is yield-managed, so no source publishes a single fare for the trip, which is the same reason rideshare estimates sit outside this stamp
