What to Expect
Madison Square Garden is the most famous arena in the world, sitting atop Penn Station in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. There's nothing like Rangers hockey at MSG, the Garden is loud, the crowd is knowledgeable, and the atmosphere for hockey is electric. The arena is surrounded by the bars, restaurants, and energy of Midtown. There's no parking lot tailgating. This is New York City, and the pregame scene is the neighborhood itself. Every subway line, commuter train, and Amtrak route converges beneath the building. Games run about 2.5 hours in regulation.

Chase Bridges first row is my favorite experience at the Garden. I have sat all over MSG for Rangers games and it is always the highlight.
Try to eat at a good spot near the arena before the game, go in the main entrance and get the full experience. Get there early for the anthem and intros - worth it every time at the Garden.
I like the corners where the Rangers shoot twice - section 113 middle of the section. There is something intense about being in the lower bowl that close to the action. Center ice is perfect from any distance.
Allow two hours before tip-off: screening here is TSA-style and the queues reflect it.
Eight subway lines stop at Penn Station itself — 1, 2, 3, A, C and E — with the Herald Square lines one block east.
Behind-the-goal seats see the Rangers attack that end twice in a regulation game, not three times.
The A, C and E put you underneath the building, so driving into Midtown on a game night is the harder option.
PATH from New Jersey stops at 33rd Street and Avenue of the Americas.
The bridges are the Hyundai Bridge now; listings still saying Chase Bridge mean the same seats.
Check the event page before you travel — a strict no-bag policy applies to some events including Knicks games, over and above the usual size limit.
