Travel
Overview

Madison Square Garden sits directly above Penn Station at 7th Avenue and 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan. It's the most transit-connected arena in the NBA, Penn Station handles the NYC Subway (multiple lines), NJ Transit, LIRR, and Amtrak. You can reach MSG from virtually anywhere in the northeast corridor by train. Driving to Midtown is strongly discouraged: traffic is terrible, parking is $40-60, and the transit options are vastly superior.

Intelligence

Crowdsourced logistics and veteran shortcuts from the fan community. Every tip is voted on by fellow game-day veterans.

Tip #1

Take the subway or train. Penn Station is inside MSG, literally the same building.

Tip #2

From New Jersey, NJ Transit to Penn Station is faster and cheaper than driving through the Lincoln Tunnel.

Tip #3

From Long Island, the LIRR to Penn Station drops you inside the arena complex.

Tip #4

Do not drive to MSG unless you truly have no alternative. Midtown parking is $40-60 and streets are gridlocked.

Tip #5

Post-game rideshare surge is extreme. Walk to 6th Avenue or 9th Avenue for lower prices and faster pickup.

Tip #6

If staying in Midtown, walk. MSG is centrally located and the walk from most Midtown hotels is under 15 minutes.
