What to Expect
Madison Square Garden, the World's Most Famous Arena, sits atop Penn Station in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Knicks games are one of New York's premier cultural experiences: the crowd includes celebrities, the atmosphere is electric, and the building itself is a legendary venue. The pregame scene is all of Midtown, restaurants, bars, and the energy of 8th Avenue. Plan to arrive 60-90 minutes early. The arena is compact and vertical, with a steep bowl that keeps every seat close to the action.

Tips & Fan Reports
Even if the Knicks are bad the Garden is always a cool place to go. Pregame a little bit since drinks inside are insane but the atmosphere makes up for it. Take the subway - do not drive to MSG.
Not every food booth at MSG has the same stuff. Check the full food and drink list on the MSG website before you go so you can plan what you want and not waste time wandering around. There is nothing like a Knicks game at the Garden.
If you have the cash look for 100 section on the corners of the court. It is sloped so even if people stand you can still get great views. SeatGeek usually has the best prices for MSG.
Buses M4, M10, M16, M34 and Q32 all stop at 7th Avenue and Penn Station.
Bridge seating is suspended over the bowl rather than built into it — a straight-down view, and no other NBA arena has anything like it.
PATH from New Jersey stops at 33rd Street and Avenue of the Americas.
MSG's own chart lists Floor, 100s, 200s, Suites, 300s, 400s, the Hyundai Bridge and the Lounges — a listing naming anything else is a resale category, not a Garden level.
Allow two hours before tip-off: screening here is TSA-style and the queues reflect it.
The A, C and E put you underneath the building, so driving into Midtown on a game night is the harder option.
You do not leave the building: Penn Station is directly beneath the Garden, and LIRR and NJ Transit both terminate there.

These figures are estimates. Most venues no longer publish the numbers behind them — concession and ticket pricing moved to dynamic marketplaces — so we hold them as estimates rather than dating them as verified.
- Ticket prices — Secondary market averages (SeatGeek/StubHub)
- Parking prices — Never checked against a published rate: the venue's parking page, read 2026-09-05, publishes none — the Garden's parking page names SpotHero as the official parking app and prices nothing. The 2026-07-27 figures were compiled from third-party listings (was: "Madison Square Garden 2026: $20-$66 across official and surrounding garages; nearby Icon and Gotham West garages from $22-$30").
