Tips & Fan Reports

What fans who park here actually do, and what it cost them.

Penn Station is literally inside the arena, subway, NJ Transit, LIRR, and Amtrak all stop here.

VYT Research

If driving from New Jersey, take NJ Transit to Penn Station instead. It's faster and cheaper than driving and parking.

VYT Research

Street parking in Midtown is effectively impossible on game nights. Don't waste time looking.

VYT Research

Rideshare drop-off is on 8th Avenue. Post-game pickup is brutal. Walk to 6th Avenue for faster pickup.

VYT Research

Do not drive to MSG unless absolutely necessary. Midtown parking is $40-60 and traffic is miserable.

Parking Rules

What the pass covers, what gets turned away, and the lots that run on their own rules.

Your Pass

  • Madison Square Garden operates no parking facility of its own. The arena names SpotHero as its official parking app, and every garage around Penn Station is a third-party operator setting its own event rate.
  • Book ahead rather than driving in to compare: the garages closest to the arena are the ones that fill first on event nights.

Not Allowed In

  • Raised-roof vans do not fit some indoor garages, which the arena attributes to low clearance.
  • Most outdoor lots accept raised-roof vans, so an oversized vehicle should aim for surface parking rather than a garage.

Accessible Parking

Madison Square Garden runs no accessible lot of its own, so accessible parking here means on-street parking under New York City's permit rules. The rule that catches visiting fans is that the city does not recognize out-of-state placards on the street.

  • Holders of a New York City Special Parking Permit may park on the streets and avenues around the venue.
  • New York City does not honor blue disability hangtags or plates issued by New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut or any other state for on-street parking.
  • Parking questions are handled by the New York City Department of Transportation on 718.433.3100, not by the arena.

How We Checked This Page

Every section below names the source it was read from and the day it was read. Where we could not reach a published figure, the page says so rather than presenting an estimate as a checked fact.

Parking guidance

Official Rangers/MSG arena parking page, shared venue: accessible on-street permit rules, out-of-state placard warning, raised-roof van clearance, and the arena's named booking app.

These figures are estimates. Most venues no longer publish the numbers behind them — concession and ticket pricing moved to dynamic marketplaces — so we hold them as estimates rather than dating them as verified.

  • Parking prices — Never checked against a published rate: the venue's parking page, read 2026-09-05, publishes none — the Garden's parking page names SpotHero as the official parking app and prices nothing. The 2026-07-27 figures were compiled from third-party listings (was: "Madison Square Garden 2026: $20-$66 across official and surrounding garages; nearby Icon and Gotham West garages from $22-$30").
