What to Expect
Petco Park sits in the East Village of downtown San Diego, a short walk from the Gaslamp Quarter. Consistently rated one of the best ballparks in baseball: perfect weather, excellent sightlines, great food, and a relaxed SoCal vibe. The Western Metal Supply Co. building, a 1909 warehouse incorporated into the left-field corner, is an architectural landmark. Gallagher Square beyond center field offers lawn seating, big screens, and a bar scene. San Diego's craft beer scene is arguably the best in America. Games run about 3 hours.

Tips & Fan Reports
Get the crack nachos. Trust me. Several locations in the park sell them. Whatever you are craving Petco Park probably has it - the food is genuinely good compared to most ballparks.
You should have no problem getting a bobblehead if you are an hour early but there are spots to hang out in the park if you want to go earlier. If it is a day game consider shade - sun side gets brutal.
I prefer the parking structure that gives quick access to the 163 freeway for leaving. Valet parking across the street from the stadium is $80 and totally worth it if you don't want to deal with traffic.
In-seat delivery through the MLB Ballpark app covers the Blue Shield Home Plate Club, First Base VIP Box, Lexus Club, Cutwater Coronado Club and the Terrace Level — not the upper deck.
Three Trolley stations sit within two blocks — 12th and Imperial, Park and Market, and Gaslamp Quarter at Fifth and Harbor.
Gas only. Charcoal is not permitted anywhere on the premises, which rules out the usual kit.
Ballpark-district development has parking limited and traffic heavier; the Padres push pre-purchase and transit for a reason.
Trolleys run at least every 15 minutes during games and add service after most night games, so leaving is covered too.
The Harbor Drive footbridge is the walking route from the Convention Center lots.
Gallagher Square is a lawn, not a seating section — the cheapest admission at Petco, with a partial view through right-centre and the game on the Sycuan Stage. It fills up, so arrive early.

Not yet checked against a published source
These figures are estimates. Most venues no longer publish the numbers behind them — concession and ticket pricing moved to dynamic marketplaces — so we hold them as estimates rather than dating them as verified.
- Ticket prices — Secondary market averages (SeatGeek/StubHub)
- Parking prices — Never checked against a published rate: the venue's parking page, read 2026-09-05, publishes none — the garages open at least two hours before, passes stop selling four hours before, and the page prices nothing. The 2026-07-26 figures were compiled from third-party listings (was: "Petco Park 2026: official lots closest to the stadium $25-$55 by game; ballpark lots overall $15-$55 by proximity; Tailgate Park $25-$55").
