What to Expect
Wrigley Field is the second-oldest ballpark in MLB (1914) and arguably the most beloved. It sits in the Wrigleyville neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and the famous rooftop seats on Waveland and Sheffield Avenues. The ivy-covered outfield walls, the hand-turned scoreboard, and the seventh-inning stretch singalong are baseball at its most nostalgic. Wrigleyville on game day is a neighborhood party, Clark Street fills with fans hours before first pitch. Night games were only added in 1988, so daytime baseball at Wrigley remains the iconic experience. Games run about 3 hours.

Game Day
Definitely take the Wrigley Field tour if available. The tour guides are knowledgeable and show you some cool stuff including the visitors clubhouse. Cubs parking lots do not allow tailgating unfortunately.
Hard-sided coolers are refused at any size; soft-sided ones under the limit are fine.
The free remote lot moved to 4650 N. Clarendon Ave this season, with a free shuttle for night and weekend games.
Parking & Directions
Get there a few hours early and walk around outside the park. Wrigleyville is beautiful and very safe with plenty of good restaurants, an outdoor venue with free live music, and shops. Murphy's Bleachers is the classic pregame spot.

The Red Line serves Addison station one block east of Wrigley Field.
Food & Drinks
Never put ketchup on a Chicago hot dog at Wrigley. Mustard, onion, relish, tomato, pickle, sport peppers, celery salt, no ketchup. This is Chicago law.
The Italian beef sandwich dipped (juices poured over the bread) with hot giardiniera is the signature Chicago ballpark food experience.
Old Style beer is the nostalgic Wrigley choice. It was the official beer of the Cubs for decades. Not the best beer, but it's tradition.
Seating
The upper deck is unusually close for a 400 level, so an Upper Deck Reserved seat is a genuine alternative to a mid-price ticket rather than a last resort.
The Terrace Level is the one reachable by elevator.
Ask about posts before buying in the lower bowl. Wrigley is a 1914 ballpark and the steel that holds the upper deck up stands in some sightlines.
General
Soak it all in. Wrigley is truly the most magical place in baseball. The bleachers are rowdier and more fun. Inside food is meh but the neighborhood has incredible options within a two block walk.
Know Before You Go
- Bag policy
Backpacks, including clear backpacks, are not allowed. Other bags must be smaller than 16 x 16 x 8 inches and are inspected at entry.
Hard-sided coolers are prohibited regardless of size. Medical bags and diaper bags accompanying young children are exceptions.
- Gate opening
Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch for most games and two hours before Opening Day, Saturday games, and special occasions unless announced otherwise.
- Venue payments
Wrigley Field purchases are cashless and accept credit cards, debit cards, and mobile wallets.
Reverse ATMs are inside Marquee Gate and in the Budweiser Bleacher concourse.
- Re-entry
General exit and re-entry is not allowed after a ticket is scanned.
Ticket holders may use the Gallagher Way Gate to access Gallagher Way beginning during the first inning; re-entry there closes at the bottom of the eighth inning. Alcohol may not be carried between Gallagher Way and Wrigley Field.
