When Do NFL Stadiums Stop Selling Beer?

Kyle Piontek7 min read

Short answer: at the end of the third quarter. That's when alcohol sales stop for 25 of the 32 NFL teams, going by each stadium's own published policy.

The big exception is MetLife Stadium, where the New York Giants and New York Jets play. Last call in the general seating there is halftime.

Which NFL stadium stops selling beer earliest?

MetLife Stadium. Alcohol sales at general-seating concessions and portable units close at the beginning of the third quarter. Stadium management may curtail or prohibit sales earlier at its discretion. If you want a beer for the second half there, buy it before the third quarter starts.

Gillette Stadium is vaguer. Alcohol sales are discontinued during the third quarter of Patriots games and may end earlier at management's discretion.

When do most NFL stadiums stop selling alcohol?

At the end of the third quarter, or the start of the fourth, which comes to the same thing. 25 teams' stadiums publish that cutoff. Of the 29 policies we found, 19 also say sales can stop earlier at management's discretion, so treat the end of the third as the latest you can count on, not a promise.

Can you still buy a drink in the club seats?

Sometimes. Four stadiums say in writing that their premium areas keep serving after the general cutoff:

  • State Farm Stadium (the Arizona Cardinals): General alcohol sales end after the third quarter; Club, Loft, and Luxury service may continue for one hour after the game for eligible guests.
  • Lucas Oil Stadium (the Indianapolis Colts): Alcohol sales end no later than the end of the third quarter, except in Club Lounges, the Quarterback Suite, and private suites. Stadium management may limit or stop sales earlier.
  • Hard Rock Stadium (the Miami Dolphins): Alcohol sales end at the close of the third quarter on Levels 100 and 300, while listed premium areas continue service after the game. Level 200, Theater and Loge Boxes, East Endzone Lounge, and suites stop 60 minutes after the game. The Nine, 72 Club, and West End Zone Club stop 90 minutes after the game; management may curtail sales earlier.
  • Raymond James Stadium (the Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Main- and upper-concourse alcohol sales stop at the beginning of the fourth quarter; club areas may continue service through the event. Some stands may stop at the end of the third quarter, and service may change by event.

At MetLife Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, AT&T Stadium, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, SoFi Stadium and Northwest Stadium, the published cutoff covers particular areas, like the general seating or named levels, and doesn't say what happens in the clubs.

Which NFL teams don't publish an alcohol cutoff?

The Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles don't publish a fixed time on their own pages, so there's nothing for us to print.

The Seattle Seahawks say the cutoff at Lumen Field varies by event. Check the current game information or ask Guest Services on arrival for that event's cutoff.

How we checked

Every row comes from the team's or the stadium's own guest guide, linked in the table. Stadiums change these, sometimes mid-season. If yours has, the report link on your team's page reaches us and we'll correct it.

Planning the rest of the day? We've also covered when the gates open and the bag rules at every stadium, and every policy we track is free to download from Venue policies.
