What to Expect
Ford Field sits in the heart of downtown Detroit, connected to the city's sports and entertainment district alongside Comerica Park. Game days in Detroit reflect the city's remarkable revival, a passionate fanbase that endured decades of heartbreak has emerged with the One Pride rallying cry and an electric atmosphere that fills the dome with sound. The Thanksgiving Day tradition, dating back to 1934, makes Ford Field one of the most iconic settings in the NFL each November. Downtown Detroit's walkable streets, Greektown restaurants, and craft breweries make the pregame experience uniquely urban. Inside, the fixed-roof dome keeps everyone comfortable at room temperature while 65,000 fans create a thunderous indoor roar.

Gates open three hours before kickoff. The first hour is Power Hour with discount beer and hot dogs. Go in early so you can wander around without huge crowds - had a blast doing that my first game.
Park at MGM Grand Detroit, stop at Bookies Bar & Grille for food and drinks pregame. Way better than paying $40+ for a garage right next to Ford Field.
Get the cinnamon almonds at the game. Also check out the LCA Den for drinks and chips. The Polish Village Cafe nearby has awesome Hungarian potato pancakes and all their food is good.
Walk around outside the stadium if it's nice weather - so many people tailgating who are usually pretty generous with food and drinks. That's the real Detroit game day experience.
Ford Field typically has a power hour before the game so enter early for deals on drinks and food. Restaurants nearby will be packed so think about reservations - Union Assembly, Le Supreme, and Eatori are all solid.
Soldier Field is tiny compared to Ford Field. Ford Field doesn't really have a bad seat unless you are worried about climbing stairs. The 400s are honestly fine and I didn't have trouble seeing anything.
Surface lots and garages around Ford Field are about $20. Park further out and walk a bit and you can find $10-15 spots. Parking isn't that hard to find if you arrive early.
The coney dog rivalry is real: American Coney Island vs. Lafayette Coney Island. Both are within walking distance of the stadium. Try both.
The Delta loge boxes are sections 100 and 141 only, and look down over the player tunnel.
