What to Expect
NRG Stadium sits in the sprawling NRG Park complex in south Houston, home to the Houston Texans, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and some of the best BBQ tailgating in the NFL. The retractable roof means you're always comfortable inside the stadium, climate-controlled in Houston's brutal summer heat and protected from Gulf Coast rain. Outside, the tailgate scene is a full-blown Texas BBQ cookoff with brisket smokers running since dawn. Toro the Texans mascot, the bull pen entrance, and Houston's passionate fanbase make this one of the best game-day atmospheres in the AFC South.

Tips & Fan Reports
Stay downtown near Discovery Green and take the Metro Rail to and from the game. Super easy, no parking hassle, and the area around NRG isn't walkable anyway.
Blue lot is where the tailgating is. Night games at NRG are a blast - get to the lot by 5 for a 7:10 kickoff. Trust me. It will take you a half hour just to walk up to your seats.
Chicken tender basket is the best bang for your buck at about $12. Truth BBQ is pretty good but expect to spend $25-$30 per meal. Club level has more options but you need the right ticket to access it.
NRG Stadium is going cashless so bring a card. Park off Fannin at the light rail lot and ride in - way easier than fighting for stadium lots.
Park near the center column of whatever parking lot you're in. It's hell getting out of any NRG lot if you park far from the exit.
The north and east end of the stadium gets the sun at game times when the roof is open. Check the clear bag policy on the NRG or Texans website so you don't have to go back to your car with stuff.
Take some cash to pitch in on food and drinks while tailgating. Not required but it is customary as a courtesy. The tailgating culture at NRG is very welcoming.
Directors Club and Chairman's Club memberships do NOT provide access to the East or West Club. A premium membership here is not automatically a club-level ticket.
No lighter fluid. Liquid starter is strictly prohibited, so bring an electric charcoal starter or quick-start briquettes instead.
Premium hospitality is sold separately from club seats: the Champions Club, the BMW Lone Star Ballroom and the Sideline Experience are their own products.

These figures are estimates. Most venues no longer publish the numbers behind them — concession and ticket pricing moved to dynamic marketplaces — so we hold them as estimates rather than dating them as verified.
- Parking prices — Never checked against a published rate: the venue's parking page, read 2026-09-05, publishes none — NRG Park names nine colour-coded lots and a JustPark purchase link, with no figure for any of them. The 2026-07-27 figures were compiled from third-party listings (was: "NRG Park 2026: official lots from about $25 plus tax at the gate; Texans gameday and premium lots $30-$75 prepaid (World Cup pricing excluded)").
