Overview

There's no traditional parking-lot tailgating at Guaranteed Rate Field — the ballpark is in an urban setting without dedicated tailgating lots. White Sox fans gather at Lot A Tailgate Row and surrounding bars and restaurants for the pregame scene. The energy builds as game time approaches, with fans filling the streets and plazas near the ballpark. Check the team's website for recommended pregame spots and any official fan events.

Tailgating Protocol

No grills, coolers, or tailgating setups are permitted in parking garages or structures near Guaranteed Rate Field.

Outside alcohol is not allowed in public plazas or the ballpark grounds.

The ballpark's clear bag policy applies at all entry gates.

No re-entry — once you leave Guaranteed Rate Field, you cannot return.

Follow all posted rules in parking garages; they are for vehicle parking only.

Strategic Zones

Lot A Tailgate Row

The north side of Lot A is the most active tailgating area, with regulars setting up grills and music starting 3+ hours before first pitch.

Most social tailgate scene at the park / Regular fans with full setups — grills, speakers, games / Walking distance to the main gates

Lots E/F Tailgate Area

West side lots with a more spread-out tailgate scene. Families and groups with larger setups often choose these lots.

More space for larger groups / Less crowded than Lot A / Easy walk to the left field entrance

Bridgeport Neighborhood (35th Street)

The Bridgeport neighborhood near the stadium has local bars and restaurants with a South Side working-class vibe.

Ricobene's — famous for the breaded steak sandwich / Schaller's Pump — one of the oldest bars in Chicago / Authentic South Side Chicago atmosphere

Treat Lot A Tailgate Row as your pregame headquarters — arrive 1–2 hours early to soak in the atmosphere.
