Rogers Centre Pregame Guide

Toronto Blue Jays · Toronto, ON

Rogers Centre sits under a roof in the middle of downtown Toronto with no surface lots of its own, so there is no tailgating to arrange — the pregame is the blocks around the dome. On Saturday and Sunday home games the gates open two hours before first pitch, though the club notes gate times can change. The bag rule is the thing to settle before travelling: nothing over 16 by 16 by 8 inches, soft-sided diaper bags, medical bags, small purses and knapsacks are fine, hard-sided cooler bags and containers are not, and there is no bag storage anywhere at the ballpark — so an oversized bag has nowhere to go.

Tips & Fan Reports

With no stadium lots, the pregame is the surrounding downtown blocks.

VYT Research

Weekend gates open two hours out, but the club warns gate times move.

VYT Research

There is no bag check here at all, so an oversized bag is a trip back to the hotel rather than a fee.

Hard-sided coolers are refused whatever their size; a soft-sided bag under 16x16x8 is the way through.

The no-storage rule at the gates

There is no bag storage anywhere at the ballpark, so a bag over 16 by 16 by 8 inches cannot be checked at any gate and has to go back downtown with you.

What to Bring

  • A bag the gate will accept

Soft-sided bags no larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches are permitted after inspection; bags and contents must fit in the inspection bin without adjustment.

  • Only the outside food and drink the rule allows

Fans may bring food that is wrapped, bagged, or secured in a container that complies with the bag policy and fits under a seat.

  • A card or a phone wallet

    Rogers Centre is cashless.

  • Your tickets on a charged phone

Blue Jays tickets are digital and must be scanned from a mobile device through the MLB Ballpark app, Blue Jays Account Manager, or Ticketmaster app.

  • Layers, gloves and a hat

April lows average 35°F outside Rogers Centre; the roof decides what the seats get.

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat

July highs average 83°F outside Rogers Centre, whatever the roof does.

  • A poncho, not an umbrella

Umbrellas are on Rogers Centre's prohibited list, and April averages 4.1 inches of rain.
