Use it to avoid parking. - Channelside garages are cheaper than the official lots and only a 2-3 minute walk farther. - Post-game traffic on Channelside Drive clears in 15-20 minutes. Walk to Sparkman Wharf and wait it out. - Rideshare pickup is on Channelside Drive. Moderate surge for 15 minutes after the game. - If staying at a Water Street or downtown hotel, walk along the Riverwalk. It's a pleasant 10-15 minutes. ## Seating Benchmark International Arena — the building carried the Amalie name until the naming-rights change — runs two premium club levels rather than one. The Benchmark International Club Level carries The Mark, its signature all-inclusive space, and the newly renovated Tampa Bay Club Level carries the Heritage Insurance and RSM Lofts, two party areas holding 40 to 125 people each. The seats to know about are lower down: the Blue Line Club sits between the blue lines at sections 102, 103, 114 and 115. | Section | Price range | View | Pros | Cons | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Chase Club / Glass Seats | $260 - $900+ | | The players are physically at your eye line; Contact on the near boards lands in front of you | The most expensive Lightning ticket; You see the least of the game from here — the near boards hide the far end | | Blue Line Club (Sections 102, 103, 114, 115) | $200 - $550+ | Lower level between the blue lines — the centre of the ice, square to the play. | Between the blue lines is the position that matters most in hockey: you see both zones develop; Four sections only — 102, 103, 114 and 115; Lower level, so you keep proximity as well as the angle | Four sections in the building, so availability is the binding constraint; Priced above the rest of the lower bowl | | The Mark (Benchmark International Club Level) | $180 - $500+ | The club level's signature all-inclusive space. | All-inclusive, and the flagship of the renamed club level; Club-level height with the whole sheet in frame | The inclusions are much of what you are paying for | | Ashley VIP Lounge | $220 - $600+ | A VIP lounge with its own private entrance to the arena. | A private entrance, so you avoid the general doors entirely; Game-night amenities beyond the concourse | A lounge rather than a seat — check what the ticket carries | | Heritage Insurance & RSM Lofts (Tampa Bay Club Level) | $150 - $450+ | Two open party areas on the newly renovated Tampa Bay Club Level. | Open-plan party spaces for 40 to 125 people each; On a club level renovated recently rather than an inherited room | Group products rather than individual seats; An open atmosphere, so not the place for watching quietly | | Lower Level Sideline (100-Level) | $140 - $350 | | The best ordinary hockey sightline in the arena; High enough to see over the boards, close enough to follow the puck | Play tight to the near boards is hidden below you | | Lower Level End Zone (100-Level) | $90 - $240 | | The best angle on a power play working the near zone | The Lightning attack this end twice in three periods; Cross-ice passing is hard to read end-on | | Club Level (200-Level) | $75 - $220 | | For hockey this height is where the systems become visible; Two separate club levels serve this part of the building | An ordinary club-level seat does not open The Mark or the Lofts; Removed from the sound of the boards | | Upper Level (300-Level) | $30 - $95 | | The cheapest Lightning ticket; The clearest view of a breakout and a forecheck developing | Steep, and a long way up | Official seat map: https://www.nhl.com/lightning/arena/ ## Getting There The Lightning's arena publishes its parking by arrival direction and gives a walking distance and time for every lot — from a 0.1 mile, three-minute walk at the Teal Lot and Pam Iorio Garage out to 0.4 miles and nine minutes from the Florida Aquarium Lot. Two of the garages connect by the TECO Streetcar, which is free. **Driving.** The arena is at 401 Channelside Drive. It publishes no interstate route or exit, organising parking by the direction you arrive from — north and west, west, south, east — with several garages and lots under each, and pointing drivers to Waze for the route itself. **Public transit.** The TECO Streetcar runs free to the arena, and both the Fort Brooke Garage and the Channelside Parking Garage are served by it. The arena names no streetcar stop and no bus route, so check the operator for that leg. **Rideshare.** Uber/Lyft drop-off is on Channelside Drive near the main entrance. Post-game pickup is in a designated zone. Budget $25-35 from St. Petersburg, $40-50 from Clearwater. **Walking.** Walking distances are published per lot: 0.1 mile, about three minutes, from the Teal Lot and the Pam Iorio Garage, out to 0.4 miles and about nine minutes from the Florida Aquarium Lot. ### Transit options | Option | Price | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | | TECO Line Streetcar | $0 | Free streetcar connecting Ybor City, Channel District, and downtown Tampa with a stop near Benchmark International Arena | | Pirate Water Taxi all-day pass | $34 | Water taxi along the Tampa Riverwalk with a stop near the arena. A fun, scenic way to arrive. | | Rideshare (from St. Pete/Clearwater) | $30 | Uber/Lyft from St. Petersburg or Clearwater Beach, about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic | ## Tailgating Benchmark International Arena is at 401 Channelside Drive and controls none of the parking in downtown Tampa, so there is no tailgating policy to publish — the nearest option is the Pam Iorio Parking Garage at 375 Channelside Drive, adjacent to the west plaza. The bag rule has a hockey-specific tightening that catches people: bags over 12 by 12 by 12 inches are prohibited generally, but for hockey games anything larger than 4 by 6 by 1.5 inches must go through an X-ray scanner. Doors open 60 minutes before a Lightning game, or 90 for Channel Club, VIP Lounge and Executive Suite guests. ### Rules - Bags larger than 12" x 12" x 12" are prohibited. Large bags, not including small clutches, must go through an X-ray scanner prior to entry. - For hockey games, bags larger than 4" x 6" x 1.5" must go through an X-ray scanner prior to entry. - Medical and parenting bags exceeding these sizes are permitted, subject to additional search procedures. - Doors open for a Tampa Bay Lightning game 60 minutes prior to the start. Doors for Channel Club, VIP Lounge and Executive Suite guests open 90 minutes prior. - The arena does not control any parking in the downtown area. The Pam Iorio Parking Garage at 375 Channelside Drive is adjacent to the west plaza. - An accessible drop-off area is off Channelside Drive in the drop-off circle, adjacent to the Accessible Entrance. - The arena publishes no tailgating policy. ### Best areas | Area | Description | | --- | --- | | Pam Iorio Parking Garage, 375 Channelside Drive | Adjacent to the west plaza at the arena and the nearest parking option, though the arena controls none of the downtown parking itself. | | Channelside Drive and the west plaza | The arena's own address is 401 Channelside Drive, with the plaza on its west side. The accessible drop-off circle is off Channelside Drive next to the Accessible Entrance. | | Downtown Tampa parking | The wider stock of downtown garages and lots, none of which the arena runs — so parking is a downtown decision rather than an arena one. | ## Food & Drink Benchmark International Arena serves Tampa's Cuban and seafood heritage alongside standard arena fare. The Cuban sandwich, pressed bread, roast pork, ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard, is the signature item and Tampa claims it as their invention (sorry, Miami). Cigar City Brewing, one of Florida's most celebrated craft breweries, is on tap throughout the arena. Grouper sandwiches and tropical drinks reflect the Gulf Coast vibe. Sparkman Wharf next door offers waterfront restaurant-quality dining as a pregame alternative. ### Nearby restaurants | Name | Cuisine | Price range | Rating | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Naked Farmer | American Restaurant | $$ | 4.8 | | Hampton Chocolate Factory | Dessert Shop | $$ | 4.7 | | Oxford Exchange | American Restaurant | $$$ | 4.6 | | Yard House | American Restaurant | $$ | 4.6 | | The Pearl Tampa | Restaurant | $$ | 4.5 | | Hattricks | Bar & Grill | $$ | 4.4 | | American Social - Bar & Kitchen | American Restaurant | $$ | 4.3 | | Boulon Brasserie and Bakery | French Restaurant | $$ | 4.3 | ## Game Day Timeline Benchmark International Arena sits on the waterfront in Tampa's Channel District, steps from the Tampa Riverwalk and the cruise ship terminal. The Lightning have become one of the NHL's elite franchises with back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021, and the arena atmosphere reflects that success. The Channel District and Water Street Tampa developments have transformed the area around the arena into a walkable entertainment zone. Tampa's year-round warm weather means even January hockey games have a tropical pregame vibe. | Time | What happens | Detail | | --- | --- | --- | | 3 hours before puck drop | Walk the Tampa Riverwalk | The 2.6-mile waterfront path connects hotels, restaurants, and parks to the arena.
