### Parking tips

- Tailgating is allowed in the lots. Bring coolers, chairs, and snacks. It's one of the best tailgating scenes in baseball.
- The CTA Red Line is the cheapest option at $3 and drops you right at the stadium. Runs 24/7.
- Lots fill for crosstown Cubs games and Opening Day. Pre-book or arrive 2+ hours early for those events.
- Rideshare drop-off is on 35th Street near the main gates. Post-game pickup is smooth.
- The Dan Ryan (I-94) runs right past the stadium. Easy on, easy off, post-game traffic clears in 15-20 minutes.


## Seating

Rate Field runs an entrance level plus 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500, and the value in it is unusual: the Club Level is the 300, and it carries in-seat service, a private climate-controlled lounge and exclusive restrooms at a price closer to an ordinary seat than a premium one. Scout Seats in the 100 have in-seat service too. The Stadium Club sits in the right-field corner with two levels of dining and its own ground-level entrance beside Gate 2.

## Getting There

Rate Field is one of the few ballparks with a rapid transit station effectively at its gates — Sox-35th on the CTA Red Line — plus a Metra stop on the Rock Island Line a short way east. The club buries all of this in its A-to-Z guide under P rather than giving it a transportation page, which understates how well served the ballpark is.

**Driving.** The ballpark sits alongside the Dan Ryan Expressway, with the Metra stop at 35th Street just east of it. The club publishes no route in of its own; arrival guidance lives in the A-to-Z guide rather than on a directions page.

**Public transit.** Rate Field is just off the Sox-35th station on the CTA Red Line, and a number of bus routes serve the area. The Metra stop is at 35th Street just east of the Dan Ryan Expressway, on the Rock Island Line.

**Rideshare.** Uber/Lyft drop-off is on 35th Street near the main gates. From the Loop or Magnificent Mile, expect 15-25 minutes depending on Dan Ryan traffic. Post-game pickup is smooth, less congested than Wrigley.

## Tailgating

Tailgating is permitted in the Rate Field lots, set up within your own parking space and clear of pathways and traffic — and the club now sells reserved tailgating spaces in Lot E, which come with dedicated tailgate room and a short walk to the gates. The clock is tight at both ends: all tailgating stops at the start of the game, none is permitted afterwards, and the lots close about an hour after the final out. Lots open two hours before first pitch, or three on the home opener; gates open 90 minutes before, or two hours on Opening Day.

Rate Field celebrates Chicago's South Side food culture. The 2026 lineup leans hard into the neighborhoods: jibaritos and Puerto Rican rice bowls, Lucky's tonkatsu dogs and sushi push-pops, DB Kaplan's deli sandwiches, and the All-Star Chicago Lineup sampler — Vienna dog, kielbasa, Buona beef and Garrett popcorn on one tray. The Italian beef sandwich, thinly sliced beef on Italian bread, dipped in jus with spicy giardiniera, is the signature item and a Chicago essential. Polish sausage, elote (Mexican street corn), and Chicago-style hot dogs reflect the neighborhood's diverse food traditions. Prices are among the cheapest in MLB, fitting the working-class South Side ethos. The Bridgeport neighborhood nearby adds even more options.

## Game Day Timeline

Rate Field sits on the South Side of Chicago along the Dan Ryan Expressway, in the Bridgeport/Armour Square neighborhood. The White Sox have played on the South Side since 1910, and the current park, while not as picturesque as Wrigley Field, offers a more spacious, modern fan experience with South Side pride. The exploding scoreboard in center field is a White Sox tradition, firing off after every Sox home run. The pregame scene is more laid-back than the Wrigley/Wrigleyville atmosphere. Come for the baseball, the food, and the genuine South Side experience. Games run about 3 hours.
